For College Students Only
Be Prepared for Projects! is a speaking program which introduces students to fundamental project management concepts and practices used in business today. The program uses "real life" examples to promote project management concepts; the T.V. reality show The Apprentice and college-life examples are referenced throughout the program. All "lessons" are designed around two primary concepts: the flavor vanilla and the number four.
Be Prepared for Projects! emphasizes the need to keep practices simple in a complex world. Keeping it simple actually encourages young professionals to develop project management competency that will sustain their business success over time.
The number four is used throughout the presentation - four lessons, four definitions, four pieces of advice, and so on. Why? Well, four is an easy number to remember - just enough information to give students a foundational start in a project-centric business environment, but not too much information that will drown them with unnecessary details. Important subjects such as the importance of teamwork, virtual team challenges, and key leadership attributes are also addressed during the program.
After attending this presentation, students will
- Understand simple project management concepts
- Be introduced to easy project managmeent tools
- Perform well under tight deadlines and competing priorities
- Appreciate team dynamics when assigned to project teams
- Identify leadership skills necessary to manage complex projects
- Be better prepared for job interviews and project assignments
Projects are everywhere. Regardless of course study or career selection, every student will be exposed to project work in some way during their professional career and it is never too early to introduce a variety of 21st century skills and concepts necessary for professional success. It is important for our college students to become familiar with project management concepts-to better equip students in their academic, personal, and future professional lives.
This program is exactly what every student needs to know to succesful in today's project-oriented business world.
"One of the practical business lessons that Lisa DiTullio shares with audiences is "serve vanilla". Make no mistake, there is nothing "vanilla" about Lisa-not her style and not her message. She has a style of connecting with students that is simultaneously energetic and easy. She keeps them engaged and makes it look effortless."
Catherine Morgan, PhD, Dean, School of Business, Bridgewater State College
"Lisa gave a taste of business world expectationis to a non-business student audience, which they found eye-opening. I think this provided the necessary spark that these students interested in the business world needed."
R. Scott Crawford, Director, Schroeder Center for Career Development, Wabash College
"Lisa provides an excellent summary of project management and how it relates to the lives of students in the audience during her presentation. In the words of one student, 'Lisa put it all together for me.' We were pleased to have Lisa on our campus for the day!"
John Cornman, Career Counselor/Co op Coordinator, Berkshire Community College
Lisa is available, schedule permitting, to speak at campus events and leadership conferences. Lisa is also able to custom design presentations upon request.
